Henry comes home

After his move to Barcelona and, later, New York Red Bulls, Thierry Henry returned to north London with a bang on Monday night. With Henry’s record of 174 goals in 254, this is a move that would’ve brought a smile to Arsenal fans’ faces across the globe.

Henry returned to Arsenal on a 2-month loan deal on Friday, and proved why Arsene Wenger re-signed him with the match-winning goal against Leeds in the FA cup. He carefully tucked the ball into the far corner after an Alex Song pass picked him out in the area.

Not only does the Frenchman have an effect on Arsenal’s football, the players are saying how Henry’s experience is vital on and off the field.

One of Henry’s younger teammates, Ignasi Miquel, said:  “It’s amazing, he can give us a lot of experience, a lot of things that he has learned in his past and give it to the team. The team needs it and I think it is a big, big signing. I am sure he is going to help a lot. It is strange but this is the world of football.”

The fans also love the 34 year-old, as proved when the Emirates Stadium erupted as the ball went past Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan and rippled the back of his net, with Henry running off to celebrate in front of the fans and then with his manager, Arsene Wenger.

Henry’s return has clearly had a good effect on Arsenal and their game, and after their terrible start to the season, along with the loss of main strikers to the African Cup of Nations.

Could Henry be the talisman that Arsenal fans have been longing for?
