Comic Relief celebration
Entertainment — By admin on March 18, 2011 12:01 pmOver the years Comic Relief has come along way. The original idea was to get loved British comedians to make people laugh, whilst raising money, in hope of helping those who are poor and disadvantaged in Africa and in the UK.
From the first ever Comic Relief show, to crazy red noses the whole campaign has changed drastically now gaining more support than ever.
Major fundraising events have now been added to the Comic Relief Calendar including Sport Relief which takes place on alternate years. The Sport Relief mile sits at the centre of this campaign and encourages people of all ages to get involved.
The televised show is without a doubt the main event which sees the BBC give a whole evening to celebrities and comedians to entertain a live audience. Each year celebrities take on challenging tasks and entertaining displays to encourage people to donate money. This is also a great chance to see what people all over the country are going to support this charity.
Over 650 million pounds has been raised so far and in 76 different countries there is over 12,597 projects running in a bid to make a difference. Over the years the charity has focused on helping a range of issues from, schooling to malaria and this year the focus is on those who could suffer blindness.
So how can you help? Comic Relief is celebrated all over the country in schools and the workplace so why not join in the fun and games or simply just buy a red nose. Each little penny can not only save someone’s life, but change it forever.
